Rosewood Miyakojima opened on 5 March 2025, Rosewood's first property in Japan. A December 2024 release had given 1 March 2025. The resort sits on a peninsula in the north of Miyakojima, in Okinawa, amid sugarcane fields and overlooking Oura Bay, with direct access to a beach. The address is 1068-1 Aza-Nikadori, Hirara.

There are 55 guest accommodations in five zones across the peninsula. The villas are named Daya, Mui, Miji, Uru and Isu after their position on the land. Three houses, UPRA, KUURA and KAMII, are the largest, with 3-metre ceilings, barbecue grills on an open terrace and a dedicated butler. Studio Piet Boon completed the design, with local Ryukyu stone central to its materials.

NAGI serves Italian cuisine with Japanese cooking techniques, MAAS focuses on seafood, and YUKUU is the poolside bar beside an infinity pool. CHOMA, a washoku restaurant covering sushi, tempura, teppanyaki and yakitori, was listed as opening later in 2025. Asaya Spa has six treatment rooms, a yoga studio and a fitness center. Miyakojima Airport is 10 km away, a 20 minute drive.

“Opening today, March 5, 2025, Rosewood Miyakojima sits on an untouched peninsula on a tropical island located off the south coast of mainland Japan”
